Brazilian Dance is one of the most powerful and rich sources for dancing. Brazilian Dances have evolved from a mixing of cultures, mainly with Afro Cultures. That is why usually Brazilian Dance is expressed as Afro Brazilian Dance. The five centuries of Brazilian Dance evolution include dozens of dance styles depending on the region. There is no doubt that the richest is Bahia, the birth place for Brazil itself and up today the capital of the afro culture in America. Afro Brazilian Dance includes mainly these dance styles: Orixas dance, Lundu, Maculelé, Umbigada, Mexixe and Samba. Afro Brazilian Dance has evolved along the centuries as result of different social environments. Afro Brazilian Dance is based on a combination of african rhythms and instruments that are undoubtly attached to the Afro Brazilian Dance. It is well known that the Samba and its modern flavours influenced the last century evolution of the Afro Brazilian Dance The Samba, synonym of Brazilian Dance was originally known as "samba de roda", a version of the Lundu and Umbigada, which are references themselves of the Afro Brazilian Dance. Then the Samba turned into a popular Brazilian Dance expression, making the Brazilian Carnival its milestone. More links to Brazilian Dance
